As we approach the 6-month anniversary of the October 25th tragedy, we invite you to join us for a Commemoration Event on Thursday, April 25th at Lewiston’s Simard-Payne Memorial Park.
We will be gathering at 6:30pm for a remembrance ceremony to include brief remarks and moments of silence. We have been working with our Victim Advisory Committee and hope that you can join us as we gather as a community in memory of those lost and in honor of all those affected by the shootings.
Additional information:
The ceremony will take place in the open amphitheater space near the river.
Everyone is welcome to bring chairs, blankets and other items to keep them comfortable.
We encourage everyone to arrive as close to 6:30 as possible; the ceremony will begin around 6:45 p.m.
Space in the front is reserved for those who are deaf or have difficulty hearing, and for those directly impacted.
Two moments of silence will be observed at 6:56 and 7:08 p.m.
Everyone is encouraged to wear blue, and if at home, to place a light or electric candle in your window in solidarity with victims and their families.
-Parking is available in the nearby parking garages (Lincoln Street and Center Street) and street parking is available as well (Oxford Street, Beech Street, etc.)
We invite everyone to wear blue for the evening as we come together in solidarity. We also ask that our community light candles or lights in their windows on the night of April 25th.
Please invite friends, family, and neighbors to join us. Reach out to the Maine Resiliency Center team at 207-515-3930 or info@maineresiliencycenter.org with any questions. Thank you, and we hope to see you next week.
